Alright, so I need a phone, not really interested in getting a contract or anything, so just pay as you go will do, have a budget of about £150 at the most really, what tarrif/phone/company should I be looking at?

Gimpeh, why not a contract? O2 do some awesome sim only deals with rolling contracts so you're only tied in for a month, otherwise the 300 free texts per month deal, again with O2 is great, that's PAYG

I only spend about £10 a month on pay as you go with Orange. I'm on one of the packages where you get free texts depending how much you topped up by the previous month and I have magic numbers set up so there's three other orange phones I can call for 15p for an hour.
I might get a samsung next. Not sure which one though. Maybe the E900 for £80.

Contract is the way to go - plenty about for a decent amount a month, with a reaosnable phone and text and minutes.
Mine from vodafone is an 18 month contract, with 500 texts a month and about 150 anytime any network minutes for £25 per month, but £12.50 for the first six months.
I got it about 7 months ago with a K800i, but you'll be able to get something better now and at the end of the contract just cancel it, sell the phone and do it again.

It depends how much you use your phone as to whether or not contracts are the way to go. As I said, I only spend about £10 a month and I don't think anybody does a contract for that amount, never mind one that would cover all my calls and texts.
