That's not what I meant.
Are you OK with the Leader of the country trying to pull the wool over the electorate's eyes and being caught out doing it so badly
So you’re admitting he shouldn’t come out and say he’s bottled it but you’re scolding him for trying to pull the wool over our eyes?

Really not sure where you’re coming from here.

docker with a kind of bizzare self-serving metanarrative here, basically: it's a bad decision because the reaction was negative

I personally dont like the idea of having a PM who wasnt elected, and am not inspired by Gordon Brown.

However, if holding a 2007 or 2008 election would mean Cameron getting in Id rather they left it.

The day that smarmy idiot gets into office will be a bad day for this country.

And (once again) it won't damage any reputations as much as you keep saying it will.

I don't think this thread needed anything other than "we don't elect our Prime Minister, you ******".

Almost.
It was a bad decision because he missed a trick.
He could've ruined the Tory Conference, and in the process DC and the rest of his crew, with a more direct approach.
But instead he faltered, allowed the Tories to "steal" a policy and forced his CoE to deliver a budget that was meant to signal the start of his election campaign.

and in two years time it won't mean a thing - meanwhile, the tories are short of substance and labour are taking their electable policies - it's not much good claiming that you're setting the political agenda, as cameron says he is, because the opposition to a party who've been in power for a decade should be doing that anyway
