Just how good / important were Joy Divsion
Listening to there Unknown Pleasures album now and this has got to be one of it not the best debut album ever, from Curtis and his lyrics to Hookys base, so forward thinking and way ahead of there time. Has there ever been a more powerfull song than New dorn fades the lyrics and the passion in Ian Curtis voice is genius.
Basically without Joy Division, then there is no music as we know it today.

They did 4/5 tremendous songs, and the lyrics are very good. But the music is so sparse and wiry at times, that I can also find them a bit boring.
