Was watching Hak.5 the other day and have just signed up to it. Essentially it is a flash version of itunes. You sign up to anywhere.fm and you can upload your entire music collection for free. Then you can access it more or less anywhere in the world, the player can even pop out into a new window.
It's in beta atm with unlimited storage, but this will change eventually so get it whilst its free i say!
not a bad idea, but last.fm essentially does a similar thing only without the overhead of uploading my entire music collection, which would probably take days.
Use the web uploader to quickly get some songs up. Just click the upload button located in the bottom right corner of the player.
Better yet, use the Mac or Windows iTunes Desktop Uploader to automatically upload your song library, playlists, and play counts. It will upload songs with the highest ratings and play counts first while automatically managing your upload speeds to ensure a smooth internet experience. To download the uploader, click on the "iTunes Uploader" button in the top right corner of the site.
Do you have support for Windows Media Player or Winamp?
The Desktop Uploaders currently only support uploading your iTunes library. In the future we will add support for uploading music from other media players, including Windows Media Player and Winamp. Feel free to use the web uploader in the meantime.
Does the service work on Linux?
Adobe recently released a version of Flash 9 for Linux. Unfortunately, Adobe did not appear to have finished the upload functionality on Linux, so you can play all of your favorite songs, but you cannot upload songs. Hopefully Adobe will release an update in the near future!
Is there a limit to how many songs I can upload?
Currently in beta we do not enforce a limit to how many songs you can upload. So knock yourselves out In the future, we may institute a storage limit or charge for premium storage.
What music formats do you support?
Currently we only support MP3s, but we plan to add additional support to other music file types soon!
