more a general observation tbh, but i generally do the same as you, once though before i knew it & could say no thanks, the ****er had crept up behind me & sprayed me with gods knows what knock off aftershave & was holding his hand out demanding £1 (think the only English he knew was POUND! POUND!)

Taxi i just round up to nearest pound. Very rarely tip people in bars, only time i do is if i know them and then i'll give them the money to get a drink after work, same as they would if they came in while i was behind the bar.
Restaurants get rounded up to the nearest fiver if there's five or less of us, when there's more we just throw a quid each in.
