Default Paintballing and other expensive sports thread.

So I went paintballing today and absolutely loved it, went as a house competition with our school and our house won 42-6. All in all a fantastic day but the price left a lot to be desired.

Game Minutes: 4 x 20mins + 1 x 15 mins = 95 mins
Amount paid: £45
Amount of Balls used: 800
Amount of Balls paid for: 600

Now this is not the first time I've been paintballing but I still think the balls at this place are an absolute scam, £6 for 100. Luckily it's quite cheap to get in but the balls suck as well, not even decent ones.

Basically I want to go again in November for my birthday and want to find the place which is best value for money, preferably in the midlands.

Also share stories on your most expensive sport/hobby

Most expensive sport I play? Football! prefer new boots every other year, new shinpads every year (they tend to stink), not mentioning new pair of junk pants every month as I shred them to pieces on the synthetic pitches, we get a new set of kits every summer. Then of course we are paying rent for the training pitches every month.

All in all, quite expensive, six punds for a hundred paintballs sounds like a bargain to me

Paintballing is amazing, except when your visor steams up and you can't see **** - then you get pelted

I always end up pacing myself in games so I don't have to spend a fortune on refills though.

the actual "battle" doesnt last too long - but the couple of hours is brilliant

There are three of you plus instructor in a tank. Its better if there are three of you as friends goihng so you can be in one

They put you in a tank and you each have a go at driving it round the fields (including driving with the hatch down)

Once everyones done that you go to the centre of a field for target practice, you then have a go at aiming the turret and then have a go at firing

You then have the battle

basically there are two parrallel paths and on one there is your task and on the other the enemy tank.

There are four points. Basically you race to the first point and once you get there you have two shots - once you have fired you move to the next and wait for the opponents to get to the second marker and so on to the end

The advantage of firring your shots first is that the opponents have to then hit a moving target - and you can get your turrent/ammo ready for the next round of shots

so as i said - whilst the battle is brief - the actual event is absolutely brilliant

oh yea and we won 8 - 6

Last time I went I just ended up being a massive scab and picking up balls from the ground. They said not to as the rain would have made them expand in size but they were fine.
