The EU have some sort of treaty with the african countries about making it easier for them to come and work here. A danish club went to court and said that that should mean that all african players should be considered as EU nationals (their FA has some restrictions on foreigners). The club won so africans are free to play in denmark. (Norbaek should know more about the issue)
| That happened in Spain recently as well.

| English football doesn't currently have any specific non-eu rules though. There is the general work-permit rule, but that applies to all professions. Does this effect this I wonder?

Yeah african players are no longer considered as "non-Eu" in Spain now, I think. Here (Spanish) |

As well as players from the Caribbean/Pacific.
So basically it's just south american players who are non-eu in spain, and they just go and get spanish nationality |

| Would not work as it is the UEFA (and thereby FA too) rules that has to follow EU law. It isn't the clubs that have rules against foreigners.

| Well IIRC the deal is that they should be treated as EU citizens when regarding working, hence no need for a WP. I would have thought that english clubs would be the first to try this out but I haven't heard a thing about it. |

Yes, it's quicker for people from former Spanish territories than it is for people from other countries. So, it also includes Brazilian and Portuguese people. It also includes Sephardic Jews, as they were expelled from Spain in 1492.
