In the UK its fine, but I do it very rarely these days, if I have a couple of beers a) I'll want to have more, and b) be totally ineffective for the rest of the day.
In the US it seems a total no no, certainly where I work, it just doesnt happen, my mate ordered a pint of guinness when we went for lunch one day and they looked at him like he was mad.
Best place is our Amsterdam office though, they have a fridge full of cold beers

let Dr. James E. Armour take a look at you after your latest struggle wtih a pulmonary infarction, he knows best after all!
reminded me of jearm accusing people of fasting during ramadan to get off work which in turn led me to think of more moments from his greatest hits: his expansive vocabulary (no exaduation), that time he thought he was dr cox, all those times he embarassed himself and said "you fell into my trap", that time he said a team needs 8 centre backs in its squad.

the general public, doctors, customers, postmen, southerners...
is there anything you don't look down upon from the lofty height of moronic shop assistant? whatever it is, it must be magical
1st off it was a joke (i know you ahve a hard time getting them and get royally ****ed off when you fall for them -as with that link i posted a few months back)
2nd you should really learn to read old posts before using them as your blank ammo- i said in the PAST i worked in a shop didn't say i currently work in a shop
incidentally where have i ever said i look down upon that list?
ive displayed my disdain for them sure but, never said i look down upon them- mind you that seems to be your thing accusing me of being condescending if i say i dislike something
but i'll re-cap for you
customers: i don't have a problem with them, i have a problem with certain customers
general public: not really
doctors: as i've said to Jordan not discussing it
southerners: (see above & i cba including safety winks)
