I realise there is always a plethora of laptop threads, and ive searched through a couple, but since they're quite old, often alot of the results they found had expired links, etc.
So basically im looking to buy a laptop. I realise that for the same amount of money I could buy a far far superior desktop PC, but to be honest, I'll probably only use it for casual downloading, internets, messaging, photos and music etc.
I want a laptop since my room is pretty small and a desktop takes up alot of room, and I also think I would use it a fair bit since I trvael up to Liverpool fairly often to see my girlfriend, etc.
I have had a look on amazon and that, but to be honest i have been out of the PC game for so long, I have no idea what processors are good, etc, etc, etc.
I realise my needs are fairly simple, but at the sime time, I dont want to pay for an absolute crock, but again I have no idea what I can expect for my budget.
To be honest I only really want to spend about £350ish, but if thats going to get me nothing, or a particularly good deal is more, than I could probably afford to go higher, I just dont really want to
£350 is not going to get you much in the way of high end or even mid range processors I'm afraid.
You can pick up a Pentium D (fairly basic Intel dual core processor) laptop from PC world for around £380.
Your best bet would be to pop into a local independant computer store for some good advise, whatever you do don't walk into PC World or the like & ask for advise as the staff are only sales people not IT techs, whatever they say is generally garbage.

Dell Vostro. Only downer is it's quite heavy compared to other laptops but I only move it about once a fortnight or something so it's not a big deal for me. Specs, build and price wise it was the best I found.

From Warrington, which is actually worse imo. Still, she is out of my league hot, and she is quite ricj so is posh sounding instead of having a filthy scouse accent, so np
A scouse girlfriend? ...you poor bastard. </BLOCKQUOTE>
