Then asks me to insert a password which is the default, I take it this is what I am looking for? When i got the machine everything was pre-installed and I got Nortons is there anyway I can stop it installing that and do i need to install the acer power management?

afaik it'll do it all, I had to do nothing just uninstall norton when it's done.

Thank You, I take it once I have done this my laptop will be just like when I recieved it? I have yahoo messenger which I dont really want but my brother decided to install it and I have the google and ask bars when surfing the internet and loads of toehr rubbish which i dont really want so just want it how it was when i first had it.
I use AVG anti virus so dont need Nortons myself, once again thanks for helping me.
