I think the first one. Because it is a big thing to win the league. And for most mid table club's fans, that one win will satisfy them for a lifetime.

And the next season you can always introduce some local players and finish mid table.

I am not sure that second is valued a lot. When Liverpool finished second I don't think they celebrated it. I think they saw it more as giving them hope that they could win it the next season.

I'd say maybe Reina and Cech were undervalued, as opposed to Gordon being overvalued. Cech worth at lest £12-15m now, Reina at least £12m I'd say, Gordon at £7m compared to them doesn't seem bad at all. I think Carson is worth £4-5m at non-inflated-beacuse-he-is-english prices and Gordon is certainly better than Scott.


Anyway, re: some other points people have made, I'd much rather have two or three 'local lads' and the rest non-english, then 9 englanders who didn't care for the club before coming there. (ok, half the liverpool greats all supported everton, but most game through the youth ranks at melwood and had the same determination and love of the club as the liverpool youngsters).
