my point was this, i would much rather see my team produce (or buy and develop) players that are capable of improving and taking the national team forward than have a team made of foreigners that are supporting another countries national team.
I am a England fan first, club side second.

I'm an England fan first and a club fan second, but what you're saying is idiotic. sorry. </BLOCKQUOTE>
If you are an England fan first, how can you justify supporting a side and putting money into a team that doesn't promote the national team?
(note im not having a go, im just trying to let you see my ideals. ) </BLOCKQUOTE>
your ideals

bless.
clubs exist to make money. they want the best players that they can possibly get, regardless of their nationality. maybe 20 years ago, our top clubs felt a sense of responsibility for the general health of the English game, but nowadays the idea's laughable. Look at Arsenal - managed by a Frenchman with barely an English player in the squad, and with Russian and American billionaires fighting for control. why should they give a **** about the strength of the English national team?
it's up to the FA and the government, who need to put proper investment in right at the bottom. if we had kids of 9 and 10 coming through who were as good technically as the foreign lads, then your Arsenals and Chelseas wouldn't need to look overseas for so many of their youngsters.
