im just patrotic. I much rather my team brought players through the Youth System and gave them a chance than buy some money grabbing 30 something who does not give a damn about the club.

Any reason? I'd easily rather have the first, i don't really notice the nationality of the players as long as they are playing well for the club.

That's a fair point, but you do realise youth players can be foriegn and money grabbing 30 somethings can be English?

yeah would much rather my team be made up of youngsters that came up through the youth system and loved the club rather than someone who would leave because they only got offered 85 grand a week instead of 90

We have signed Mark Viduka over the summer. He's 30 (Like in your example), and a foreign mercenary who quite frankly has only signed for us because we offered him more than his old club. Already he's showing his quality, and has netted 3 times in 6 appearances so far this year.

On the other hand, we have the home-grown alternative. Shola Ameobi. He trips over his own feet, couldn't trap a bag of cement and has played 228 games for a spectacular return of 45 goals.

Give me the money-grabbing Aussie anyday.

but you could have kept Carroll (instead of sending him out on loan) and not brought Viduka
