Default Question about South African banks

I think Cranker and Jongi are/have lived in South Africa, and might be able to help me with this:

I need to transfer some money to the Standard bank of South Africa. Banks I've dealt with have a Bank code or Routing number. However, with this I get a Swift code and Branch number.

Is the Swift code the identifying code for the bank? (I'm assuming branch # is not needed for the transfer).

Merci beaucoup mateys

Yes, the SWIFT code is an unique identifier.

For example BNPAJESHXXX is

BNP (Paribas)
JE (Jersey)
SH (St Helier)

The SWIFT code in this case is SBICBWGXXX

You can always add the branch name in a refernce field (for example mT :20:
