The common factors of 300 and 520 are 1, 2, 5, 10 and 20, therefore the biggest square tile must be 20 x 20.

300 into 20 goes 15 times, 520 into 20 goes 26 times, so you need 26 tiles wide by 15 tall gives 390 tiles in total.

Packs of 20 means you need 20 packs giving 400 tiles, so 10 left over.

315=3^x X 5^y X 7^z
3 to the power 6 is greater than 315 so x is between 1 and 5.
5 to the power 4 > 315 so y between 1 and 3.
7 to the power 3 > 315 so z between 1 and 2.
Basically x = 2, y=1, z=1 gives 315

Snooky your a star , thank you so much for explaining it as well, now just need to work on it, and try and remember how to do it when another question comes up.

I'm stuck again, just wondered if anyone could help, rather than starting a new thread I’ll put it here.

I can work out multiples and I can work out adding but I can't seem to work out what to do with minus numbers, its algebra btw, here's the questions I’m stuck on.

2p^2 + 5 when p = -3

^ = to the power of not sure how you can type power numbers.
All i got so far is

2p^2 + 5 when p = -3

(2 x -3 x -3) + 5

I'm so stuck

Right so far. Now all you need to know is that multiplying two negative numbers together gives a positive result. E.g. -5 X -4 = 20.

and remember to do p^2 first before multiplying it by 2 - its 2p^2 and not (2p)^2. It can make a difference sometimes.....

and remember to do indices first, so -3^2=9, 9x2=18, 18+5=23

Makes sense now i think so:

2p^2 + 5 when p = -3

(2 x -3 x -3) + 5

-3 x -3 = 9

2 x 9 + 5 = 23
