When it comes to the big occaision, the football team seem defeated before kick-off where as the rugby team seem to be lifted by it. I dont think there is anything wrong with questioning why that is.

I watch alot of League more than union, and most things in that they get spot on. But its more their attitude that impresses me. They want the game to flow and not send people off. Thus they command respect on the field of play with no player that ive seen backchatting the ref. Football tho you get the impresion they love booking and sending off players as they can show their dominance

i think the attitude thing is just built into each game. it's the area that football really has to learn from rugby.

a gust of wind arguably kept australia from beating us, and a fairly soft penalty call accounted for the 3 points which got us into the lead against france.
have to admit I don't follow rugby or cricket just when you got so many points involved rather than simply the division of one goal winning or not winning a match it does bring up what I said. But okay, fair point and that.

yeah, for the smaller nations, much like what happens with the smaller nations in football
rugby is a largely professional sport now.

well with the australia example that gust cost them 3 points and the match.
