How can you afford Sky?!
It's not that expensive, really. I'd need to spend about the same per month just to get phone and broadband anyway.

And I got Sky+ as I found one of those 'recommend a friend' offers where you get a free Sky+ box and installation - so just got a mate to recommend me and I was sorted.

Think I'll have to agree with Retro.

Sounds like a replacement box might be required.

That means I'm going to have to pay because I have had it more than a year.

Oh you mean you didn't take up the offer of £99 a year warranty... when you can buy a Sky box for £99??

I was sorely tempted to take up their generous and worthwhile offer myself.

Didn't you have the old Sky+ box anyway though?

I'm sure they changed it in the summer, new one has more capacity etc etc.

I suspect that the Sky+ Anytime feature might take some disk space away from your normal recordings.

I think that it can be disabled in settings.

On the older boxes, Amstrad mainly, I think that there was a problem where a recorded program takes more space then it should. At least it did on mine, especially if I used the 30x fast forward speed.
The newer Pace boxes seem to be better.

Jorg:
it sounds like a similar problem to my old Amstrad box. One of the tuners inside it is knackered and it can only receive a good signal on on of the cables.
Time to ring Sky and say that you'll cancel it if they don't send someone round to repair/replace the box.
