Neither ffs.
Upper class = aristocracy. You're born into it, it's a tiny class.
The people this thread is talking about are most likely upper middle class. </BLOCKQUOTE>given the lack of an aristocracy in American society, my definition diverges. </BLOCKQUOTE>
Fair enough then although that complicates things: what makes someone upper class in America?

I'll name a few of my things ;
I live in a place where houses sell for over £700,000
I've got a 6 person jacuzzi in the back garden.
For Christmas, between me and my brothers, we are getting a Wii, XBOX Elite+Live and a plasma.
My dad has recently thought of buying a new BMW.
I don't like to be called upper-class but with the facts I can clearly see we are, though my dad won't tell me how much he makes.
| No, it makes you middle class. There's no financial point where middle class becomes upper class. The difference between middle and upper class is power and status - not neccessarily based on your income. Or at least traditionally, anyway.
Say some chav c**t win the euromillions and now is worth £100m - is he upper class? No. He can have all the riches but he'd have no power, status or title.
For me, if you can live comfortably in good conditions and enjoy some luxuries, you are middle class.

I go to a dump of a School, did any one watch Ant & Dec last night? Mr Byrne is my head teacher. I am in all the top classes and got 2 awards last year, History and 10+ Praise from teachers and just missing out on Maths.

once you graduate from Cambridge with a First Class Honours (sic) PPE degree, come tell us. </BLOCKQUOTE>
I'm not saying it means anything, I'm just wondering what ''class'' you would put me in.. in my opinion nobody has a class, you just have your own personality. </BLOCKQUOTE>I don't think dependents have their own class.

I would erase power from that definition now or perhaps replace it with some kind of idea that they would have power if they were in a different age.

I'd say wealth combined with at least a modicum of influence, be it political, economic, or social.

Well what can make you upper class?
JUST having aristocratic blood?
I'm not complaining, it's just a question.

I would say yes. You can't become upper class, unless you start to count Lords as upper class which I think I'd dispute.

number seven casually denying class exists.
btw the way class is operationalised is through occupation or the occupation of your parents if you're younger
