the £125 bt quote is right. basically if theres not been a line in the property before or its been disconnected for a while they will pull that charge out for you. even tried it with me when the line had been cut off for 2 weeks whilst we changed owners of the contract but managed to convince them they could get to fcuk.

well we didn't have a bt line for over 2 years in our flat but it was free to have it reconnected. Maybe I just have a more attractive voice than you lot.

Indeed, but at the same time Virgin are well within their rights to cut off the landline because of the unpaid bill.

The original poster should have had more sense not to have it in the name of somebody who was possibly going to leave the country.

That's exactly the kind of stories which put me off from sharing a flat with Chinese students when i was a uni students myself. Which is quite sad considering i am chinese and used to be an international myself .
