I can authoritatively say as someone who bought his PS3 in Canada and is now living in the UK that you can buy one, it'll work perfectly and all you'll need is to buy a UK kettle-type lead to fit the uk socket.

You DO NOT need any kind of step-up voltage adaptor.

Region 2 DVDs and European PS2/1 games won't work on it.

PS3 games are region free, blu-rays are mostly region free, check before buying.

I know it seems like lack of common sense, but I presumed maybe a special adaptor would be needed to meet the demands of the PS3.

If you buy a PS3 in Canada, you will only be able to play Region 1 and Region 0 DVDs

You will only be able to play Region A Blu-Ray discs and discs that aren't region coded.

You will however, be able to play any PS3 game, but will be limited to NTSC/U versions of PS2/PS1 games.
