Finally got to see the new Ian Curtis biopic, got to say was very impressed very well shot and superb performances from all involved
I was a fan of Joy Divisions music but didn't really know that much about the band or Curtis himself, was a bit dissapointed as well, as Curtis came over as a bit of a prat really, was it the drugs he was on or just Ian being himself the way he treated Debbie was out of order but she also smothered him and didn't really do anything to help him, just sort of turned her back on him and left him to his own devices, we all know how that ended.
The thing what really gets me is how or why did nobody try and help him, did they not listen to the lyrics surley the likes of Hook, Sumner, Morris, Gretton and Wilson could have done more to help and then maybe we would have had more great records from Joy Divison.
All in all for me the film left me with more questions than answers, great film though.
Supposedly someone from the US distributors rang up Peter Hook and asked if it would he could contact Ian and arrange a Joy Division reunion for the film premier
You should try and catch the Factory doc that's been on BBC Four recently.
They were just young blokes. They had no idea how bad it was...and they only started to read his lyrics after he died. That's when they realised he'd meant it all.

Oh dear
Haven't seen it yet, defo want to go and see it though.
can't wait to see this. friday i think i'm seeing it in sheffield.
only really discovered joy division and curtis this year but i've been completely encapsulated in his story - read two books and **** loads of internet articles about him.
Saw it a couple of days ago. Definitely one of the best films i've seen. Surprisingly funny for a lot of the film, and like you said, Atmosphere just *had* to be played at that moment... Superb.
