Default charity stitchups

I've just got back from some charity evening. it was a 'casino royale' thing, rented out at a some bar. as far as I knew, a mate of a mate was doing it for charity. I paid £7 to get in. WHOA, bit steep I thought... but it is for charity I suppose.

later on this broad is asking for raffle tickets. I specifically ask what charity she's collecting for, and she says it's for a 'hospice... for the terminally ill'. I pay £2 for 5 tickets.

later on I find out this whole swindle is not for charity at all. it's 3 students raising money to climb the freaking north pole. I'm stunned on a number of levels. for a start said earlier broad is either RUBBISH at sarcasm, or was lying, because I asked pretty seriously what charity it was for.

then again, I probably would have gone tonight anyway, as it's a 'mate of a mates' do, and apparantly for charity. but then again, if I'd known it was £7 I'd hella notta gone. ESPECIALLY if i'd have known it was some students. ffs, I'm a student too you slags. don't particularly care wtf you're doing, I'm probably poorer. sob.

to make matters EVEN MORE complicated, at this point, I win the freaking raffle. I never win raffles. Noone ever wins raffles. Fake people win raffles. Friends of the main prize organisers win raffles... not randoms like me. but lo and behold, I won the raffle. I've won go-karting for me and my pals. never been go-karting before, sound fun though.

but I'm kind of annoyed. I was deceived. but I would probably have donated £7 of the £9 I donated anyway. but I was deceived. then I won stuff. I feel wrong but happy. what should I do. go-karting vs morals?

With the go-karting, you're up on the deal, right? So I say you're allowed to fill empathetically annoyed and deceived for everyone else who was swindled, but you have to laugh all the way to the race track.

Go Karting's awesome, enjoy mate.

I was gonna ask the same question as Ackter though, were the exact words "climb the north pole"?
