My town's newspaper has a guy who does a little side column of 'entertaining' miscellany, and one of his sections is titled "I'm not making this up" where he just gives a weird fact. One day the fact was "Halle Berry has a fear of drowning".

The day I read that was the day I gave up on humanity.

Got £20 iirc when I was 18ish. Some kid threw a random punch at me when I refused to buy beer for him from the shop.

Police were desparate to get him as they had loads of other things to pin on him, but this was the first one they could get him to court on. So may have been a thankyou from them really.

Never got round to cashing it (strange - I was a poor student at the time) so probably ended up being used for the court staff's Christmas do.

should really have followed through my with my complaint against a bouncer in my local. Was walking back from the bar with my mate, head turned talking to him and I brushed off the bouncer. He spun around and stuck his head onto my lip. Split open on the inside and outside, scar is still there if I strectch the skin. He got sacked though, but I'm sure he doesn't remember it now.

I got £30 a couple of years ago. I'd chased down a joyrider after he had crashed and pinned him down with a neighbour till Police arrived. The bastard bit my in the arm for my troubles

I got just over £4K for being thumped in a nightclub, nearly 10 years ago. Was hit just once (unprovoked). Right cheekbone was smashed, as was my right eye socket. Had to have a titanium plate inserted in my face to hold it together. Hospital reckoned the bloke had been wearing a knuckle duster to do the damage he did from one punch.
