I have a friend from the extreme west of São Paulo (almost Mato Grosso do Sul), and her accent is like fingernails on a chalkboard.
My aunt married a guy from rural Illinois (who has false teeth, to top it off), and it's hard not to laugh sometimes when he talks.

Russian and German however

I personally have a pretty weird accent, people in America ask if I'm British all the time but when I go to England people think I'm American... nontheless I'm French so I take both as a compliment since I'd rather sound like English is my native language than have this terrible French accent.
In English I love the real British accent (as opposed to the fake one I have that confuses the Yanks) and in French I loooooove the Spanish accent, even hairy fat dudes with a Spanish accent could turn me on |

Accents have always fascinated me (not in a nerdy way) and a place like the UK, so small, can have such varied accents over such short distances. Liverpool to Manchester to Yorkshire, etc
Midlands accent is the worst in the entire world
I've no idea how to distinguish accents across the States though. Apart from the New Yoik one which is no doubt played sometime as the 'Mockney' do in London.
Apart from obvious Texas and Southern accents what is it about accents from places like Philly or Boston ? Can you tell ? I mean, is it as obvious as as Birmingham to Scouse for instance ?

Now I don't expect anyone to know what it sounds like, but when I'm outside of Gothenburg or speaking to people not from around here, they all think I have a Gothenburg accent. When speaking to locals, they all think I'm not from there. I don't know if it's because I somehow do speak differently, or because the accent is vague enough to not be noticed by someone used to a lot heavier accent.
In English I don't think I have a specific accent, at least not an obvious one. I probably do have some of the characteristics that most Swedes do when speaking English (Usually very easy to identify Swedes by the accent), but since my pronunciation is good it's not as obvious.
Depending on the occasion, I can like most English accents really. Scouse is horrible of course, as are a few others I can't really put a name to, but most really do have at least some things in their favour. As for the US accents, I don't like most of the southern ones, but some of them (Virginia maybe? Not sure) can be really hot in women, assuming it's not too thick.
As for the Swedish accents none of you know about, Skånska is the one we (And the rest of the country really) likes to mock. They like to mock mine too, but less so and in a more friendly way. Värmländska is hilarous, Östgötska just ugly. While the best are the various accents in Norrland. They just can't sound angry.
