You could have saved us from the usual nonsense propoganda. I hold you personally responsible.

Not that I've actually read any of it btw.

That said, I have seen my share of people bullshitting by distorting what the numbers suggest.

Like a Ron Paul supporter arguing that Ireland's success proved that the US could lower corporate income taxes and increase revenue from said taxes.

His full argument was that we could cut individual income taxes entirely, roll spending back to 2000 levels, and then make up resulting the 400 billion dollar deficit by lowering corporate taxes

ofc he had no idea that Ireland was taking advantage of EU handouts that were close to the yearly corporate tax revenue they took in or that the increase in tax revenue was largely due to tax rate competition with other EU countries, not something we would necessarily be able take advantage of over here.

Er, a quarter of our prison population are immigrants or their kids. That's on top of the minor offences the report mentions.
I'd like to see your source, seeing as the figures I've seen previously put it at around 7%.

You could join the EU? It'd **** the Frogs right off and if nothing else you could get your cotton subsidies back. \o/

For the data, I got it from the "Labour force survey", which you used to be able to read online. However for some nefarious reason it now seems they don't want the public having access to that information. Wonder why? I'll try to find you something similar or something quoting it.

Was referring to the tax rate competition bit, not exactly like we would likely attract many Mexican or Canadian corporations by cutting rates.

Besides, we'd never join the EU, Ron Paulites (and others) want to withdraw from NATO, the UN, NAFTA, and basically any other multinational acronym they've heard of.
