I just downloaded the Championship Manager 2008 demo that was released tonight. Mainly so I could compare my research for FM Southampton with CM's.
However I wasn't expecting what I found. I may be wrong but I found alot of evidence in the Southampton data alone that suggests they have used FM as a source.
Copying Mistakes?
For example John Mortimore was on FM07 as a scout this was a mistake by the previous Saints researcher and I have since removed him for FM08 as he is infact the club President. Now is it slightly odd that CM has also made this same mistake?
More examples can be found in some details of the youth players which on FM07 were wrong which and I have since corrected. These original mistakes match with those on CM08, surely far too much of a coincidence.
There are many, many more!
Maybe Im too cynical, but there seem to be far to many of these errors that are the exactly same as those mistakes that have been corrected in FM07 just to be put down to coincidence
I haven't even touched on the numerous other data mistakes that if in FM would make the data forum explode, lack of any new youth players ontop of what FM07 had, players and staff that left ages ago like the Saints chairman who left in Febuary 2007 but is still on CM. Haven't even mentioned the gameplay itself have I!?
Lastly in the press release it is claimed that CM "remains the fastest football management simulation on the market". Is this not false advertising as they have had only demo versions of FIFA manager and FM08 to compare CM with for speed? Im sure trading standards wouldn't be happy with that as it isn't a like for like comparison.

it probably will be the fastest but they can't make that claim until they have played a full version of all of them and not base it on demo versions. like for like

As I just said in the FM2008 thread I am getting the demo now. Will now be very interested to see the Leeds data as I know there were some mistakes in that too, interesting to see if the same mistakes exist in CM too
(As well as the any new youth players)
Could this be the official CM2008 thread?
Just installed the demo and it got an "Internal Error!" at the end of installation. Seemed to install ok though. Going to start it now!

might need a change of thread title to make it more obvious what it is
