My parents internet has been playing up recently, so they got me to e-mail BT to see wif they can help. Basically the connection keeps dropping out for about a minute at random intervals and then picking up again on its own. I asked them about this and got this reply:
Quote:
Mr.*****, I understand your concern and am sorry for inconvenience caused due to the issue. I am here to assist you in resolving this matter.
However, I would like to mention that you hold a Narrowband account with BT. Hence, I am unable to access the account details to secure validate the account. I would thus request you to contact the Narrowband Technical Helpdesk on 0845 607 1942 (open 24 hours - 7 days; Business Account) or on 0906 302 3456 (open 24 hours - 7 days).
Now, my Dad set up our broadband a few years ago, but I've asked him and he doesn't have a clue what narrowband is either. The Wiki entry just confuses me further. Is it just a type of BT account, or something more technical?
My mum's connection was via one of the "early" broadband versions with BT and started with 512mbps. I think this is probably what your dad has.
Hers changed about a year ago to 2.2mbps or something like that, which is probably something to do with the network being changed. Your dad most probably is still on an older version. Best give BT a call to find out - that does link in with what davidbowie says about too.
