Didn't work out at any of them apart from Wrexham who offered me a scholaship type thing for a year, so I had too make a choice of staying on for college at home with friends or family, or going for it and leaving all family/friends and going up too Wrexham. However there was no guarentee of any sort that I would 'make it' so I declined the offer and carried on in College.
| You didnt gamble and go for it?
Ever regret it Chopra?

You'd have to go for it, for me. Even take a year and see how things pan out.

My mates dad is an agent and he got trials organised for people from our school for Watford. Always better to have those sorts of contacts around or else it'll be hard.

I thought I would, it took me a long time to make the decision, but there was no guarentee of a contract and league 2/conference is kind of the lowest level you can go without having to have another kind of job so I knew if I didn't make it with them I was never going to make it becuase i'd already been rejected by one conference team.(Hereford) and so then I would have missed a year of college and had too go back without any of my mates there and do it on my own and didn't really want too take the chance.
Just play football for fun now, youth and 5 a side ftw.
Sometimes think what could have been but i'm not the kind of guy to take risks so decided to play it <STRIKE>safe</STRIKE> boring by sticking to the qualifications system

I'd have had to go for it personally, rather take the risk and give it a shot. That said due to the fact i'm pap at football i'd have never got the opportunity in the first place.

That's pretty awesome. They don't even require any previous experience from you so any tom, dick and harry could go.

dont understand why more lower league clubs dont do this.
up here in scotland its pretty common at amatuer level which happened to me few years back & thru it had a really fantastic 5 years with 1 team. now i know thats amatuer but we found a few cracking players who had been out of the game for a while, got started back because of the trial & moved on to bigger & better things. spose its same at youth level not all the best start out brilliant.

We beat them about 4-0 and they only took on one or two players | Oh yes? Some achievement considering Oldham have one of the best youth setups without an academy. When was it? Who got signed? Was Kallum Higginbotham one of them?
