They were rubbish because Noble was suspended. He has more or less been the main man in the qualifiers so far

I went to that and thought decent players were Taylor, Milner, Huddlestone (sometimes), Theo and Gabby.
But to add to the point of U21's I would just like to point out something using information inside Friday's programme. England Strongest XI (U21 Caps in Brackets)
Paul Robinson (11)
Rio Ferdinand (5)
John Terry (9)
Gary Neville (0)
Ashley Cole (4)
Steven Gerrard (4)
Frank Lampard (19)
Joe Cole (8)
Shaun WP (6)
Michael Owen (1)
Wayne Rooney (0)
okay so I make that 67 U21 caps between all of the players, which means an average of about 6 caps per player.
Now onto the hot U21 prospects that didn't quite make it. (U21 caps in brackets again)
Shola Ameobi (20)
Titus Bramble (10)
Luke Chadwick (13)
Jamie Carragher (27)
Gareth Barry (27)
Malcolm Christie (11)
Carlton Cole (19)
Carl Cort (12)
Jermaine Defoe (23)
David Dunn (20)
Ugo Ehiogu (15)
Anton Ferdinand (17)
Paul Gerrard (18)
Jonathan Greening (17)
Lee Hendrie (13)
Francis Jeffers (16)
Seth Johnson (15)
Scott Parker (11)
Jermaine Pennant (24)
Nigel Reo-Coker (23)
Wayne Routeledge (12)
Jonathan Stead (11)
Chris Sutton (13)
Matthew Upson (12)
Paul Whittingham (17)
Luke Young (17)
Now some of you may ask why I include names like Jamie Carragher, Gareth Barry and Jermaine Defoe. Now I would say that these players have not been given enough oppurtunities at full international level.
In conclusion I believe the U21s are cursed and that if you want to succeed at full International level you need to 'Do a Bentley'. Frank's boo-boys anyone? That's the curse at work right there.
Btw I may do requests if someone wants to know the amount of U21 caps someone has gained.

Carragher won over 30 caps ffs

| Maybe I should have said they've been unlucky at International Level then with Carragher quitting early, Barry only recently being given a proper run-out and Defoe never really firing for England.

On the topic of underage squads, one thing that has seriously hacked me off in previous versions of FM was the games insistance on picking players for say the U-19 national teams who are 20-21 by the time the finals come around.
I know its allowed etc..but its not how it works IRL. IRL there are "generations". For instance, last seasons U-19's were all born 1988 or younger. This year its '89. This all tends to go out the window at u-21 however.
Every country in the world does this, but FM seems to ignore it. There are guys born 87 in this seasons u-19's in FM 08.
Slightly off topic I know, but its something thats bugged me for a while...
