Default Britains biggest storm ITV1 now - Memories of the storm??

Wow cant believe this is 20 yrs ago! I was 5 and remember being woken by the storm and being scared so went and slept in between mum and dad. Remember waking up in the morning and throwing open the curtains and couldnt believe what i saw (we lived opposite a park) and there were HUGE trees down, we had lost some of our fence and some roof tiles.
Anyone suffer any worse? And what memories do you have of that night?

We got the day off school. Even though i lived in inner London any trees were pulled up and chucked about. Some huge ones too.

I dont Michael Fish ever lived this down did he ? No doubt people still go on about it to him now

I was in Jamaica visiting the inlaws late this August when it got hit by a category 5 hurricane (dean).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurricane_Dean_(2007)

got some crappy video of it (like Im stupid enough to go out in 180mph winds with zinc roofs flying around) and a lot of photos before and after.

Made the 87 "hurricane" look like a mild wind.

i wanted to go out and play but my mum wouldnt let me because of the danger of being hit by roof tiles

looking back it was a good decision on her part

Was in a category 8 or 9 Typhoon when i lived in Hong Kong. Was out late at night at a hotel bar and had to stay there until morning. Not sure how they measure up to others but wasnt all that impressed really. Hong Kongers tended to panic whenever it was mildly windy anyway.

Dont fancy any of those American type hurricanes tbh
