There was another fairly big one not a couple of years after IIRC. Might have even got another day off school </BLOCKQUOTE>
Yep this would have been 1989 iirc

I was at sixth form college! :o

It blew my Dad's 100ft long fence down and so many trees in the surrounding area, including a massive Oak tree in the local park. The amount of debris the next day was incredible.

Vague memory of being off school, that's about it.

Funnily enough, the only thing I remember is that that was when Gordon Kaye off 'Allo 'Allo got hit in the face by a tree. Wasn't he in a coma for a while?

Random detail.

I thought he was actually pierced by it.

I slept through it, woke up and casually walked through a park where trees were strewn all about the place, amazed one didnt fall on my head tbh, got to the train station and was baffled to find all train services cancelled.

Went home to bed.

He even got last nights forecast wrong.

I was 7 & I slept through it.

Woke in the morning to a lovely sunny day and no leccy.

We had three large trees in the garden down but little structural damage. Tried to venture out into town in the morning with my dad but every route out of the village was blocked by a tree, and in one instance a barn that had slid across the lane.

We spent the next few hours helping people clear away those trees.

Just as clearly I remember what I was doing when the electricity came back on... three weeks later.

Yeah, i thought Kaye got impaled or something !
Looked him up on Wiki

Quote:
Kaye suffered serious head injuries in a car accident during a severe storm on 25 January 1990. Although he cannot remember any details of the incident, he still has a scar on his forehead from a piece of wooden advertising boarding that smashed through the car windscreen
