Anyway, when was the last time quality football was played in abundance at a major international tournament?
Kidding yourself if you think it will happen this time out.

I'd like England to be there but if they don't deserve to be there then they don't deserve to be there. In that case i'll enjoy the tournament with my (fairly) neutral hat on.

This domestic competition with England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, N Ireland should take place, it would be great and I think the competition would be close.

That's fair enough. But a big part of football for me is the passion which you lose a lot of if 'your' team isn't involved.
| Not for me tbh. I can honestly say I'll watch any game of football. I learn something new everytime I watch a game of football.
Obviously it's different if your team is playing, but I still enjoy watching as a neutral. </BLOCKQUOTE>
Not denying that for a second. I'll still watch every game no doubt. But you hit the nail on the head: 'different if your team is playing'.

But I'd hardly call it 'meh' if they're not playing though.

and as for glory hunting, explain that to me please since we havent won anything for over 40 years, ffs
| the majority of English fans only watch football when England are in a big tournament.
Same can be applied to any sport, and for an example of that head down your local this Saturday evening.
And as for this: Quote: |
anyone claiming they enjoy football as much when the team they support is not there is an idiot
| Where did I say I gave a flying about England? I'm fed up with the mongness that English fans come out with when they say we are the best team in the world, yet as you said we haven't won jack in 40 years. Yet when you suggest possible solutions (i.e. formation) they tell you that 4-4-2 is what our players are used to, yet none of the players (apart from the defenders, who are one of the world's best defensive group) play in the rigid 4-4-2 that the English fans want.
