My great aunt lives in New Cumnock (with an inevitably grafittied "Welcome to" sign) which is near Ayr, must say Ayr City Centre such a dump, its like a bigger shitter North Shields t/c.

Poor woman, Whatever crime did she commit to end up there

I lived in Cumnock so I know the area well

Given the responses I received from the thread I started I would expect Andover to be up there amongst the worst places to live!

tbf ayr is not great but still a lot better than new cumnock.

my dislike of ayr is more down to that it probably is the dullest town in the uk.

Tbh the sort of mini-neighborhood she lives in is actaully quite quaint, but everywhere surrounding it is very scruffy.
Ever been to the Carlton Hotel and had their carvery then ?

Carlton Hotel in Prestwick? It's been a while but I've had indeed been there.

I'm guessing if it's a quaint part of new cumnock it must be down the bottom end, near the train station.

Theres like a sort of square section of about 12 streets interlinking that's quite nice, then like a sort of mini motorway on 2 sides of it with scruffy shops and council houses around it
Sort of like the jewel in the scruffy crown
