For those that don't know, Crusader Kings is like Europa Universalis but set in the medieval period. The aim of the game is to create, expand and maintain a dynasty in medieval Europe. Not high action, requires patience and some imagination... not everyone's cup of tea. But naturally I love it!
Really pleased to hear this, despite how unexpected it is! Was quite a niche game, and was one I thought Paradox had given up on due it's comparative lack of success.
Personally I liked it a lot, it gave a good realisation of the period and the amount of input into your dynasty, made it more immersive than MTW2's grand campaign strategy part- although MTW2 does the strategy and battles very well
Ok a brief rundown of the game with relevance to MII:TW
[LIST]

CK is about creating a dynasty, you marry, have kids, marry them off to other dynasties. There is a feature similar to this in MTW, but in CK you create a full family tree (which is so detailed it can be imported into Genealogy programs!

The main thrust is to generate more power for your dynasty. Europe is broken down into hundreds of provinces (virtually every historical country in England is individually represented) and these can form part of Counties, Dukedoms and Kingdoms - with a feudal hierarchy

Provinces can be built up with buildings, tech etc and the level of development effects the type and size of armies in each.

Wars are fought by moving/merging these armies and attacking provinces. Battles are fought by a computer simulation, you have no direct control of the outcome. You can't just decide to start wars and invade provinces, you must create a claim.

CK is more of a roleplaying experience, you control the current head of your line. There can be times when you aren't doing much - and it can seem a passive experience. There are 1000's of characters in the game.

CK isn't all about war. Alliances are better implemented, and relationships with your subordinates and other nations is important.
I did that rather quickly tbh and without a great deal of thought but hopefully it'll provide some info.
MII:TW is geared towards war - CK is geared towards expansion of a dynasty rather than wholesale conquering. You can expand through intermarriage for example.
CK is far more realistic in terms of politics and as a medieval simulation.
I will surely get it if they offer a good payment method for europeans who dont have a credit card and the mongols dont run over all of europe in 95% of the games as it was in the original game.

Crusader Kings - Expansion Pack Announced Post #10
tbh though the Mongols are always a problem in these types of games. Personally I think it would be better to leave them out entirely or have their appearence uncertain.
