Something like that anyway.
| You mean switching it back to what it was before you changed it? yeah. You just wish you had our secondary academies.

That's not right - the Scots had counties in the Middle Ages, and Sheriffdoms (Shire Reeve kinda gives it away... and it's an English word and role).
Unless you're claiming we forced you to submit to a Shire system before 1603?

I prefer CK - but I can appreciate that a lot of people would find it slow-paced.

Oh I see, not remotely copying the English. An admnistrative system identical to counties (we called them shires too, it was the Normans who called them Counties iirc), with a word derived from English (Shire Reeve) with a Sheriff - a role invented by the English!
Copycats, copycats.

tbh though the Mongols are always a problem in these types of games. Personally I think it would be better to leave them out entirely or have their appearence uncertain.
Anyway, for £10 I'll be getting it regardless.
| I konow that chance was great that they conquered whole Europe , but in my games they always where an unstoppable wave that conquered evrything, even Spain and England. There should have been more events of for them to become a "normal" nation when they approach mid-Europe or more events that take the Empire down. Mongols always seemed to suffer no atrition and could hold 100 provinces without a problem.

I think that's a fair comment in that KoH felt like it was more about the dynasty and the familial relationships than the management of your kingdom. I've always thought that CK was the more epic of the two, but by the same token it was also the more intimidating, and I never could find a good introductory tutorial.
Aside from the two mentioned and the Total War series, does anyone know of any other dynasty-building games where you're controlling a family and trying to make it prosper from generation to generation?

I think Crusader Kings is unique in the level of detail that goes into the genealogy of the characters. When you export your savegame to a genealogy program it can be surprising to find your character is the great uncle of the King of Sweden or something. It's a shame these inter-relations aren't exploited more in the game - but I suspect that'd be something for CK 2.
tbh CK isn't as complicated as it looks - in fact it could do with a few more levels of complexity.
