Default Deborah Kerr has died

Quote:
Scottish-born actress Deborah Kerr, best known for acting alongside Burt Lancaster in the 1953 film "From Here to Eternity", has died aged 86, her agent said on Thursday.

"She died on Tuesday," agent Anne Hutton said.

"Her family was with her at the time. She had suffered from Parkinson's disease for some time and had just had her 86th birthday and so was an elderly lady. She just slipped away."

Kerr was nominated for a best actress Oscar six times, including for her performances in "From Here to Eternity" and "The King and I", in which she appeared with Yul Brynner.

She finally won an honorary Academy Award in the early 1990s "in appreciation for a full career's worth of elegant and beautifully crafted performances".
Expect a heady mix of , "so what" and "who?" comments.

Interesting choice Daaaave. Got a secret desire to be a Cary Grant-esque aristocratic toff or you enjoy Bob Mitchum "I'm just a folksly American" character.

Have to admit I liked the movie as well. I've got Seperate Tables on tape somewhere, can't Night of The Iguana. Saw "An Affair to Remember" with an ex a while back, and at least 50s Romantic movies are slightly more palatable then modern Rom coms.

cary grant, definitely.

and I LOVE jean simmons. like a more talented elizabeth taylor who didn't turn into a blimp or turn into a one-liner about marriage problems.

Yeah Grass is Greener is a classic tbf.

I don't know what it was like when they were at their height, but there is an almost deity-like Aura around stars like Deborah Kerr and Katherin Hepburn. I can't really think of any contemporaries who come close to that really. I'm not saying there's no talent now ofc.
