yeah im really happy with it so far BBB, seems to run nice and quick and it was a good price for a 17". Cant believe this is my first laptop, posting in bed is not going to get old?

My 1 month old Acer is buggered.

Hard disk failure means plentiful crashes and blue screens.


I can't send it back just yet though as i'm needing it to write an essay in 2 weeks. I'll be saving after every sentence.

My 2 year old Dell takes about 8 years to save a WWSM game. My year old laptop takes about 8 seconds with a much bigger database.

I think I'll get a desktop next time. Laptops have a tendency to go wrong - I got mine in February 2006 and the CD drive hasn't worked for about six months now. It would cost hundreds and hundreds to fix. I don't use mine enough as a laptop (i.e. taking it places) to justify having one ahead of a desktop, which would be better and allow me to play decent games as well.

I thought about that too ned, but I figured that I was maximising spac with a laptop. My room is pretty long but really narrow as its part of an extention, so i dont have much space. I'll use some of its portability since I travel on the train to liverpool alot, will just play CM on the way there or something. Its nice just being able to take it around the house or even on the bed though, makes me far more inclined to use it. I thought about how i could get a much better desktop for the same price, but tbh im a bit past PC gaming now and it seems silly when i have a 360?

They are so cheap now and usually come with extra ports to add RAM. And, you can buy 1gig of RAM online for almost nothing. I am adding 2 in the two remaining ports on my dt for $60US.
