I know they were incredibly lucky in 04, but still - how did they go from so awful in 06 (from what I remember they didn't even come close to qualifying?) to improving so much again now?
Sorry that's confusing, a little drunk - but basically a summary of Greece since 04 please!

Basically, Rehhagel, although a fabulous coach, refused to change a single player in the qf for the World Cup. We ended up playing with Kapsis (who is 35 and hasn't been playing in a high level) and Vryzas...
We were going pretty poor until the 1-4 defeat from Turkey, when Otto realised he should make some changes at least. So he brought Gekas and Amanatidis to the starting lineup, dropped a couple of veterans, and introduced Torosidis, who is an excellent full back.
Lo and behold we won seven in a row and qualified easily....
To all those bitter about Euro04, we apologise for not playing like Brazil played in the early seventies, but we promise that next time we will try to imitate all the "bigger" teams who play only attacking, sexy football, like England, France, Germany, Italy, even teh Netherlands
