Hard to tell when the floor has been mopped though there's been many times i've been upstairs, ran down and floor's been mopped so i've skidded & ended up on my arse.

I think laminate is now starting to be seen as a bit common and tacky.
I have the stuff in my living room in case anyone accuses me of espousing snobbery.

With laminate you spend half your time hoovering up dust.
Well I don't personally, but that's not the point.

Laminate flooring repels dust to a certain extent, whereas carpet lets it sink in.
Tacky as sh*te though.

It takes about a minute for my Dyson to hoover up the dust.
As Tim says, carpets just hold it in so it's less obvious, but harder to get out.
