Default Places with not just a cool name but that you'd actually like to visit.

Complete nonsense but anyway. Was perusing some rubbish team to play on NHL and came across the "Lake Erie Monsters". Upon further investigation, not only is that an awesome team name, but the place itself might actually be quite cool as well:

Quote:
Lake Erie (pronounced [ˈi.ɹi]) is the tenth largest lake on Earth and, of the five Great Lakes of North America, is the fourth largest by surface area, the southernmost, shallowest, and smallest by volume. It is bounded on the north by the Canadian province of Ontario, on the south by the U.S. states of Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York, and on the west by the state of Michigan. The lake is named after the Erie tribe of Native Americans who lived along its southern shore before being exterminated for aiding the Hurons, the enemy of the Iroquois League.

The lake creates a favorable environment for agriculture in the bordering areas of Ontario, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York. It is home to numerous fish species, making it a popular site for commercial fishing. But since high levels of pollution were discovered in the 1960s and 1970s, there has been continued debate over the extent of commercial fishing and measures used to protect the lake.
Well I found it interesting anyway. On my "places to visit" list.

Does anyone else have some places with odd names that actually might not just be vaguely interesting because they have odd names? Hmm?

Yeah I'm bored.

Rangoon, but I don't think it exists any more in that name.

I'd also like to go to Togo and ride on the Tokyo to Kyoto train....
