A month or so ago i went through a red light because i was too close to it when it changed for me to stop safely, and i would have ended up half way across the junction. Now my question is bassicaly, can i argue this? Would they have proof that i was so close, because if they don't then i don't see that i could argue it.

Any advice/experience would be appreciated.

If it turned red before you went through it then you were either speeding or had enough time to stop.

If you're going the correct speed, there's enough of a gap between green and red (amber) to safely slow down.

Unless you were trying to beat the lights

They will probably work on the basis that if you couldn't stop in time that you were speeding, even if you weren't.

Just tell them that you shouted the word 'COMMITTED' at the top of your voice as it changed to amber.

yeah i'm not denying that i went through a red light, but i wasn't speeding and imo i couldn't have stopped safely in time. it is quite a steep downhill road to this set of lights so would have needed to break harder. but if it's not worth me appealing then i won't was just wandering really.

it's a 50mph limit on this road, which is what i was doing, and imo there is no way that i could have stopped safely.
