Not that unusual? loads of places do that.
I dont think it is getting earlier every year at all imo, I think it has been exactly the same. Not like christmas is losing popularity and they need to pump it up

Tbh early is the in thing.
About a week into the 6 weeks summer holidays, you get all the "Back 2 School" stuff at ASDA and WHSmiths.  | |

Christmas decorations already for sale here as well

the advantage is that all the "special" sweets are now in the shops as well, which is quite nice

Christmas is fffffffffb, the earlier the better. Got my panto tickets through this week too \o/
