you're oversimplfying things here mate, being friends isnt about buying stuff for each other. From your post it looks to me that you are offering a huge amount of emotional and practical support and getting little in return, so the friendship such as it is, is extremely flawed, and I expect deep down this is where your concern is.

Dont approach it in a 'I buy you more than you buy me' way, that would be extremely churlish on your part, focus on the emotion side of it.

call her bluff - next time she suggests going out (and there being a situation where you'd end up paying for everything) say something like you cant afford it atm but you can meet up if she'd pay for it, and see what happens. If she genuinely sees you as a friend she'll say yes, if she's just using you she'll make an excuse not to meet up.

Done that before she agreed to meet and we did something cheap, she paid for half and I paid for half kind of thing.

But me being me I don't like it when someone pays for me or buys me stuff cos I think I need to pay them back with favours.

There was a couple of situations when I've paid for things, she did kinda of offered, but me being me I handed my cash over first. She did say she feels guilty when I did that. But I don't know if she is actually feeling guilty or just saying that to make her look good and all caring.
