I was pretty much in the same situation 2 years ago... I tried my luck and it didn't work, I stopped hanging out with the girl for about 3 months and now we're actually friends and both have been in relationships since.

You know it yourself she is using you. Obviously its creating a bit of turmoil for you since you like her.

But think about it, who wouldn't turn down free DIY, lifts and food?

If you would have got together, you would have got together by now. You don't induce a spark in her otherwise she would have made it obvious to you that she wants you by now.

Get over it and move on. When you are with another girl you'll quickly forget about her, and probably have more money in your pocket.

I dont get why you are worried about affecting the 'friendship' It seems pretty much one way traffic in terms of you doing everything for her and getting not much back.

This is classic behaviour of a girl on the rebound from a recent break up, pal up with a weak willed bloke who they dont find remotely attractive but whom they know likes them, get them to run them round and do all the stuff the bf once did, but unfortunately you dont get sex in return. If you do try it on I have no doubt she'll reject you 'its too soon after the break up, Im not ready for another boyfriend' etc etc, then as soon as a more glamourous no doormat type comes along, youre dropped like a stone.

Id front her about the fact you think she uses you, and go from there.

I'm worried cos it's a decent friendship we have going on and I know if I talk to her about these feelings I have for her and she rejects me it will be all awakard between us, probably won't be as strong or close as a friend.

I know for a fact that if I say something like your using me she will say no Im not I've brought you presents in return and her mum has cooked for me a few times so she will throw that it and say she did that.
