I was brought up christian and have done it all baptism, holy communion and confirmation. went to a catholic primary school, secondary school so i was never really around people of other religions alot.

I was never serious about religion though and by the time i got to college just never even thought about it. Not even sure if i consider myself a catholic anymore, i never go to church and never pray and after uni i have got a couple of good muslim friends so it kinda changed how i feel about religion after being kinda sheltered with the catholic faith throughout school.

While lots of people on the internet are dull atheists being unreasonably smug at theists, there are already so many pretentious people being unreasonably smug at dull atheists who are unreasonably smug at theists, that I've decided to be unreasonably smug at pretentious people being unreasonably smug at dull atheists being unreasonably smug at theists.

But then I lost track of all the smugness.

Belief (in whatever it is you believe in) and the succour that comes with it, is never a bad thing.

The religion side of it is where it all comes unstuck.

What's ironinc about not choosing to follow a religion? </BLOCKQUOTE>you missed my point.

it's ironic in that knee-jerk atheists "follow" atheism as blindly as the religious folks they love to look down upon.

How does one 'follow' atheism? Do we congregate weekly for a bit of a sing-song about our heavenly monkeyness? Is the one among us who's closest to the monkeys appointed to give a stirring little speech?
