health and safety means, quite ridiculously, that if its raining (or snowing, i guess), you are not be allowed to work outside, for the same reason you have to wear a hard hat, and high vis jackets - so the industry cant be held responsible if your health is adversely affected. your bosses should find you something to do inside, or move you to another site where theres something you can do. however, if the ground is frozen, theres nothing stopping you from working

Its been really mild up here of late, so I really feel for Rictus123 if he is getting worried about the cold

The worst I`ve witnessed was a spell of weather, where the inside of our sheds was -8C during the day and -22C at night for about a week. The frost got a foot into the ground, I think it was the winter of 95, or maybe 94.
