I ask because there was a game card in my paper, this morning. The wife scratched out the card and we've got 3 matching symbols, so we have won a 'prize'
Fist off - you have to call a number to get your prize number. This call involves a 6 minute call, which is charged at £1.50 a minute. The cost is apparently to cover the cost of mailing out a digital camera, etc. You then send off the card and should hear back within 28 days.
I guess it's more than likely a scam, but just wondered if anyone else had come across them ?

Yup - but with it being in the local paper (Newcastle Journal), I can't see them allowing to be used to promote such a thing. Might be wrong though. </BLOCKQUOTE>
you really think your local paper is going to refuse advertising revenue just because the scheme being promoted is a bit dodgy?

I thought such dodgy schemes were clamped down on in this country, or do they walk on the edge of being illegal (ie - bending the rules). As I said, I'm surprised local/national papers allow themselves to be used as a vehicle. Probably because it's legit (just).
