I heard some Euro teams (surprisingly, isn't it?) want him.

One of Ghana's players, Ransford Osei, i've read on some (Ghanaian football) websites don't beleive that he was born in 1990

It's because in many African countries the places where the birth certificates are registered are often located far away from the countryside, etc...., so the parents prefer to register several children at once, instead of registering them soon after they are born.

Also common in the Brazilian countryside, but this gets investigated and corrected more often here.

In Brazil I think it's more because of people intentionally faking their birth certificates than because of this problem.

Well, I was really thinking of the north region, you know, deep Amazon.

Yes, it does happen in those places. But they represent a very small percentage of the Brazilian population.

The annoying thing is the mafia behind these fake documents, like we have the State of Tocantins, for instance. :thdn:

The entire Brazilian north region has only about 15 million inhabitants. It's less than 10% of the country's overall population, and obviously only a small fraction of this region is most probably affected by this issue. And it's worth noting that this region produces few good footballers in comparison with the others.

I spent a month and a half in the Amazon this winter (Jun-July) in the city of Anori and they had this bureau you're stating they don't have. Bad argument.

Thought this would be the best place for this instead of staring a new topic.

Yomi Tella, the coach of Nigeria, who of course won this a month or so ago, has died of Lung Cancer. Aparently he wass in hospital ever since the Nigerian team arrived back from the tounament.
