So my PC has gone from sounding like a small train to a Boeing 747
I woke up this morning and switched my PC on for my morning browse, it sounded normal for about two or three seconds before suddenly erupting in a cacophony of jarring screeches. It normally sounds quite loud, probably due to it never having been cleaned in the year and a half that I've had it, but today it sounded like there was something about to break inside.
I immediately switched it off and had a look round the back to clear all the crap off the fans (since that's the extent of my computer knowledge), tried it again and exactly the same thing happened. I dare not turn it on again for risk of melting my hard drive or something, and it's probably still in warranty so I didn't want to open it up and have a rummage before seeking the aid of OTF when I have no clue what I'm doing.
Any ideas/advice?

I had the same problem with my PC a while back, turned out it was due to a large build up of dust, so I just got a hoover and carefully cleared the dust, I also removed the CPU fan and cleaned as it was filthy, replaced everything and it worked fine.
I can understand that you don't want to open it in fear of breaking the warranty, in which case I'd return it to the place you bought it and get them to sort it out for you.

My fans were running on top speed all the time and my CPU was getting a tad hot, until I realized that the cooling ribs on the CPU were full of dust. After I removed the dust, all was fine.
