I'm on the other side of a situation like this...

When I met my current girlfriend, I had absolutely no idea that her (quite recent) ex was someone I'd just started working with. I spend a good chunk of every weekend with this person and it probably does both of their heads in. If I was him, I'd be tormented by having to be around me all the time, and if I was her, I'd be at home masturbating constantly in front of a mirror. Also, I'd be paranoid that he was dishing all kinds of dirt on me and trying to sabotage the relationship.

It's been an awkward few months of work, in some respects.

i think i'd be ok with it (and have been in the past), due to the fact that i am not crushingly insecure, and also because i tend not to mess up relationships by acting like some kind of inept hollyoaks character

i'd probably see this kind of situation as being ideal. although it depends how the relationship with the ex in question had ended, as others have pointed out.

Only had one proper gf before my current gf, and them being friends would be weird. One reason is that we split up 5 years ago, and my gf would definitely see her as a threat (especially after calling current gf my ex's name not long after we got together, which went down well).

Also, that chapter of my life is over and I don't want to drag it up at all.
